Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 5^th December 2020, K Redding Trophy 700 yards.

The rainy weather during Saturday eased for just long enough to complete the days shooting of the K Redding Trophy and another round of the Treasurers Trophy at 700 yards. The north to north easterly breeze only occasionally showed a little strength but proved difficult to see the small changes with very little apparent mirage to help read the direction or strength with many shooters experiencing unexplained vertical movement in their grouping of shots.

Gordon Shepherd may not have been happy with a pair of inner fours to finish his second stage but his consistency was awarded with the Target Rifle top spot for the day finishing two points clear of Steve Williams who had more trouble than normal to find the bull’s eye in his second stage. Graeme Bright also had a hard time in the conditions finishing below handicap at one more point down and two points clear of John Coghill who struggled a bit during his first stage although made a good comeback in the second stage. Dennis Lavelle trailed by another two points after some improvement during his second stage but needed more hits to the bull’s eye to make up lost points.

The F Class group had a tough time with the conditions also with Geoff Willis staying in front for the day after scoring well early on to lead by two points over Graham Willis who unfortunately missed a change to lose two extra points on his last shot. Jeff Eppleston finished another point down with a bit more vertical to his groups than optimum with Auskir Berryman suffering a series of low shots in his first stage but managed to improve that component considerably during his second stage.

The winner of the K Redding Trophy was Gordon Shepherd and runner up Geoff Willis. The Treasurers Trophy round had Steve Williams top score on countback for the day over Gordon Shepherd. Saturday 12^th December will be the first round of the Captains Trophy at 800 yards.
