Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 7th January 2023, L Williams Cup 600 yards.

Saturday saw the final round of the L Williams Cup from 600 yards as the first competition event of the new year with a light south easterly breeze and heavy mirage making good scores harder to achieve than may have been considered prior to starting, with most shooters not scoring well earlier in the afternoon.

Graeme Bright lost just one point in his second stage to lead the Target Rifle shooters for the days top spot with John Coghill next ahead of Dennis Lavelle and Ron Gibson. James Clarke managed well scoring consistently in Sporter Class to lead the day on handicap results.

F Class shooter Geoff Willis had trouble finding the centre during his first stage but improved with the loss of just one point during the second stage to finish two points ahead of Col Howell and Phil Mahon who were separated by only a few super centres. Dave Butler did well to also score to handicap on the day ahead of Nick Webster and Mal Wright.

Winner of the L Williams Cup is Dave Butler (296.58) with runner up Col Howell (294.41). Next Saturday 14th January shooting will be from 700 yards for the I Hughes and R Northcott Trophies.
