Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 10th December 2022, Captains Trophy 900 yards.
A good roll up of shooters on Saturday enjoyed some more warm weather for the second round of the Captains Trophy from 900 yards. The light southerly breeze along with the heavy mirage proved more difficult than most shooters may have thought as it swung from east to westerly and back again with an occasional extra burst of strength from the west.
Graeme Bright again top scored in Target Rifle class starting with the best stage score for the day to hold off Gordon Shepherd who tried hard to catch up with his second stage score to be two points away. Ron Gibson improved slightly with his second stage score to finish ahead of John Coghill who struggled with the varied conditions. James Clarke shooting Sporter class managed a big improvement with his second stage score missing a possible by just a few millimetres.
Geoff Willis top scored in F Class and although disappointed with the loss of two points late in his second stage to possibly leave the door open for others none were able to capitalise with their second stage scores later in the afternoon. Jeff Eppleston finished next with a costly inner four during the second stage widening the gap with Nick Webster and Phil Mahon following a few points away. Graham Willis scored the best individual stage score for the day early on to give him several super centres advantage over Dave Butler and Mal Wright.
The winner of the Captains Trophy is James Clarke (200) with the runner up Geoff Willis (200). Next Saturday 17th December we move back to 300 yards for the start of the L Williams Cup.
