Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 12^th September 2020, J Wilde Memorial Trophy & K Redding Trophy 800 yards.

          Another great spring day on Saturday afternoon greeted shooters for the second round of the J Wilde Memorial Trophy & the first round of the K Redding Trophy from the 800 yards firing point. A fickle breeze that varied throughout the afternoon picking up a bit from the west then dropping off often to almost nothing as it swung around randomly with less strength from the south west to the south before swinging back to start the cycle from the west again. It was a good day to be watching for subtle changes in the plentiful mirage.

          Of the Target Rifle shooters Graeme Bright continued his good form only dropping two points during the afternoon while scoring nine centre bulls to finish two points ahead of Steve Williams who scored eight centre bulls. Ron Gibson strayed from the bulls eye a few times too many during his second stage to finish four points further behind for the day and a total of five centre bulls.

          In F Class Geoff Willis cursed at the wind early on with a slow start but came back with a good second stage score to take the days lead by two points over Jeff Eppleston who had a similar slow start to his first stage of the day. Phil Mahon dropped a further three points in the sometimes tricky changes that affected most shooters earlier with Col Howell losing another two points to the changes in direction. Newest club member Auskir Berryman received a few lessons during his second stage on how quickly the weather can change even when it looks mild enough.

          The club again competed for the Secretaries Trophy with a third stage of shooting at 800 yards on the day. Next Saturday afternoon we will be shooting at 900 yards for the final round of the J Wilde Memorial Trophy and the K Redding Trophy.
