Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 13th June 2020, 300 yards Diggers & G James Cups.
Saturday saw a return to 300 yards for the start of the 2020-21 Trophy competition year with the Diggers and G James Cups series. A mostly light and variable breeze from the North West may have indicated some good scores to be possible if all else went well for shooters.
Of the Target Rifle shooters most scored above their handicap in the conditions with Steve Williams narrowly leading Graeme Bright for top spot by one centre bull with John Coghill next scoring a great result just a few centre bulls behind in the group of three shooters only three points for the day. Gordon Shepherd had a slow start to the day finishing another two points down ahead of Ron Gibson with Dennis Lavelle a couple more points back. All shooters managed an improvement for their second stage of the afternoon.
Most F Class shooters scored above handicap also with Jeff Eppleston leading with an impressive first stage result to stay one point ahead of Col Howell who is always a tough competitor at the shorter ranges. Phil Mahon continues to improve his results finishing a further four points down and three points ahead of Nick Webster who may need to upgrade his optics shortly. Geoff Willis had a slow start for the day and only managed a few points improvement for the second stage.
Next Saturday 20th June we start the new Club Championship year from 500 yards and the second round of the Diggers & G James Cups.
