Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 16th July 2022, Digger & G James Cups 500 yards.

The fifth round of the Diggers & G James Cups from 500 yards was held on Saturday in cool weather with occasional cloud cover. Some shooters enjoyed the light and mostly steady westerly breeze with eight individual possible scores achieved during the afternoon.

Graeme Bright and Steve Williams went head to head for top spot in Target Rifle Class but one extra centre bull during his first stage kept Graeme in front with both shooters only losing one point for the day. John Coghill followed next with Dennis Lavelle again shooting well in Optical Target Rifle Class losing just three points during the afternoon.

F Class was tightly contested with Geoff Willis staying in front scoring a double possible followed by Jeff Eppleston just one point away after unfortunately losing a point on his first counting shot of the day with Graham Willis one more point away next after a strong possible second stage score. Col Howell also came home strong scoring a possible to finish two more points away followed by new member David Butler who had a great day scoring consistently and showing improvement as he learns the skills. Nick Webster had a slow start finishing a bit off his normal level of late followed by Mal Wright and visiting shooter Luke Harris who also did well. Jake Webster continued his practise with the club rifle improving his skills. Visitor Chris Pollock tried out his sport hunter class rifle at the 500 yard distance.

Next week will be the final round of the Diggers & G James Cups from 600 yards.
