Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 20^th May 2023 600 yards W & J Brown Consolation Trophy

          The W & J Brown Consolation Trophy was contested on Saturday at the 600 yards range in some excellent weather with a light westerly breeze that allowed many shooters to score to their handicap.

          Gordon Shepherd kept up the pace in Target Rifle Class with a great five centre bull finish to his second stage possible score to claim top spot on the day with a one point lead over Graeme Bright. Dennis Lavelle was next in line ahead of Ron Gibson and John Coghill. James Clarke shooting Sporter Class got up with a big smile after scoring a second stage possible to finished the day.

          F Class had four shooters who lost just one point during their first stage with Jeff Eppleston the only one to finish with a possible second stage score to top the day one point ahead of Col Howell who scored well to be two points down for the day. Geoff Willis failed to keep the pace finishing next one point ahead of Phil Mahon followed by Graham Willis then Mal Wright one super centre in front of Dave Butler. Khoby West-Kennett was next as he continues to learn the skills. Visiting shooter Peter Dawes did well experiencing long range shooting for the first time using the club rifle.

          Next week will see the finish of the club calendar at 800 yards competing for the final round of the W & J Brown Shield and the Secretary’s Trophy. The following week will be the start of the new shooting program with a change in format and allocation for the trophies.
