Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 22nd May 2021, W & J Brown Shield 900 Yards.

          Saturday 22nd May saw the final round of the W & J Brown Shield at 900 yards which also concluded the 2021 Club Championship, Gurdon Cup and A Pratley Shield competitions. Shooters enjoyed some of the best shooting conditions seen from the 900 yard line in quite a while with only an occasional drift of mirage to contend with and scores for the day averaged better than usual for a 900 yard shoot.

          Graeme Bright led the way again for the Target Rifle shooters completing his first stage without losing a point to finish the day two points ahead of Gordon Shepherd who also had a good first stage score dropping only one point. John Coghill finished next down with Charlie Bennett following closely ahead of Ron Gibson.

          F Class shooter Jeff Eppleston showed the field a possible for his first stage and only lost one point late during his second stage to finish one point ahead of Geoff Willis who was never going to catch up after losing two points in his first stage. Graham Willis scored consistently to finish just two points further down with a good super centre count with Nick Webster next ahead of Mal Wright and Phil Mahon.

          Winner of the W & J Brown Shield was Geoff Willis (297.67) with runner up Gordon Shepherd (296.75). The Club Championship Target Rifle winner is Graeme Bright (776.74) with runner up Steve Williams (769.64), F Class club Champion is Jeff Eppleston (939.71) with runner up Geoff Willis (932.52). Gurdon Cup winner is Graeme Bright (587.5) with runner up John Coghill (567.25) and the A Pratley Shield winner is Jeff Eppleston (591.91) with runner up Phil Mahon (486.90). 

          Next Saturday will be the final shoot for the competition year at 600 yards competing for the W & J Brown Trophy.
