Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 23rd July 2022, Diggers & G James Cups 600 yards.

The final round of the Diggers & G James Cups was completed on Saturday from 600 yards in magnificent weather with a mostly light easterly breeze which occasionally picked up some strength then swung from the south west as it eased again.

Target Rifle Class was dominated by visiting Lyndhurst shooter Jim Jeffery who scored the only possible on the day for his first stage and dropped just one point during the second stage with Graeme Bright next best three points behind with a one point lead over John Coghill and Steve Williams with John scoring consistently to gain an extra centre bull. Gordon Shepherd finished next just ahead of Dennis Lavelle.

F Class shooter Nick Webster again showed what he is capable of returning to his outstanding form of late as he scored consistently during the afternoon losing just one point during each stage to lead the class with a two point advantage over Geoff Willis. Mal Wright improved with his second stage score finishing two more points down and one point in front of Phil Mahon who also picked up points in his second stage. Col Howell was next ahead of new shooter David Butler who tried it without his coach for the first time and did quite well finishing two super centres in front of Grahame Willis who was disappointed with his scores for the day. Visitor James Clarke again tried his sport/hunter class rifle at long range with reasonable results for standard factory equipment.

Next week we move back to 800 yards for the Norman Rutherford Memorial Trophy.
