Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 30th July 2022, N Rutherford Memorial Trophy 800 yards.

          Saturdays competition for the N Rutherford Memorial Trophy from 800 yards was held in some of the best conditions for some time with a very light northerly breeze which saw Target Rifle shooters scoring well on the day but F Class shooters failed to take advantage of the good weather.

          Three Target Rifle shooters lost just one point each with Steve Williams leading the trio with a seven centre bull advantage over Gordon Shepherd and then Graeme Bright who was one more centre bull away. Charlie Bennett also had a great day with another personal best score achieved on the day followed by John Coghill who had a couple of unfortunate technical errors with shot placement.

          F Class was led by Graham Willis followed one point away by Geoff Willis both with similar results although not as expected on the day. Dave Butler was next perhaps doing well in comparison to some of the more experienced shooters, followed by Mal Wright and Phil Mahon with most being unimpressed with their results. Shooting in sport/hunter class visitor James Clarke continued to test his skills at the long distances.

          Next week we move back to 900 yards for the T W Willman Trophy. Winner of the Diggers Memorial Cup for Target Rifle was Graeme Bright (293.25) with Steve Williams runner up (292.27), the Diggers Memorial F Class Medal was won by Jeff Eppleston (352.23) with runner up Geoff Willis (351.26). The G James Cup winner was John Coghill (300) with runner up Mal Wright (299.75). The N Rutherford Memorial Trophy was won by Gordon Shepherd (100) with runner up Charlie Bennett (100).
