Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 25th June 2022, Digger & G James Cups 500 yards. The second round of the Diggers & G James Cups from 500 yards was held on Saturday in cold overcast weather with just a light south westerly breeze allowing most shooters to score very near or to their range handicap. Target Rifle class saw Graeme Bright top scoring after gaining the only possible score on the day for his first stage to lead Gordon Shepherd by two points. Charlie Bennett had a great day scoring consistently during both stages to achieve a PB at this range, while his weekly handicap has continued to drop over the last few months. John Coghill rounded out the TR shooters a further two points down after a slow start with his first stage.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 18th June 2022, Digger & G James Cups 300 yards. Saturday’s competition saw a move back to 300 yards for the start of the Diggers & G James Cups which are competed for over six days at 300, 500 and 600 yards. The magnificent weather on Saturday with only a light westerly breeze at times to think about appeared to be more difficult than it should have been for some shooters while a few managed to beat their handicap. Target Rifle class was dominated by Steve Williams who only let one shot slip out of the bull’s eye during the afternoon with Gordon Shepherd shooting steadily to finish next three points away followed by Graeme Bright who failed to keep the pressure up during his second stage shoot.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 28th May 2022 W & J Browne Consolation Trophy 600 yards. Saturday was the last shoot for the Bathurst Rifle Club calendar year from 600 yards with mostly overcast weather and a cold south westerly breeze that proved difficult for shooters with the sudden drops in wind strength resulting in lost points. Target Rifle shooter Graeme Bright handled the conditions best losing just one point to each stage to lead by two points with Gordon Shepherd dropping too many points in his first stage score to catch up. Ron Gibson scored consistently to finish next one point ahead of Dennis Lavelle with John Coghill following a few points further away.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 21st May 2022 W & J Browne Trophy 900 yards. Saturday saw the final round of the W & J Browne Trophy at 900 yards, which was the final Club Championship round for the year. This also completed shooting for several long term trophies including the completion of the Gurdon Cup and the Pratley Shield which have been competed for over the previous five ranges with the 800 yards not held due to range closures this year. Fine but overcast cloudy weather made for a great day to shoot and the variable south easterly breeze gave shooters plenty to think about when trying to keep them in the centre. Target Rifle Class winner Gordon Shepherd fared the best after a good first stage score that kept Graeme Bright one point behind at the finish of shooting. John Coghill finished next with Ron Gibson to follow after never quite getting into his comfort zone on the day.
