Saturday 7th September was shot at 300 yards for the First round of Series 2 for the 2024-2025 season, the usual strong westerly winds of recent weeks took a holiday giving us a gentler breeze with sharp drop offs and pickups that kept a few shooters on their toes picking the right time to squeeze a shot off.
Target Rifle was topped this week by Les Fraser only dropping 2 shots for the day but missed out on his Hat Trick of double possibles, John Coghill came in second.
Sporter was won by James Clarke who somehow wasn’t affected by the wind today putting down his first perfect stage scoring 50.10 in the first stage with Ben Hawkey in second also scoring to his handicap for the day, Visiting Shooter Daniel Hafner had his first go at long range and scored a respectable 90.02 and shows a keen interest in stretching the rifles legs.
Jeff Eppleston took out the F Standard with a nice possible in the second stage with Dave Butler in second missing out on scoring to his handicap by less than a point, Garry Cafe took out the F Open but also missed out on the Double Possible Hat Trick with Ben Wright in second with some help from using Geoff Willis’ F Open Gun.
