Sat 4th January 800yds
Saturday 4th January was shot at 800 yards for the Second Round of Series 2 for the 2024-2025 season and the first shoot for 2025, For the first shoot of the year we were greeted with some variable winds that if watched allowed the centre of the target to be found, that was until a sudden down pour rolled through lasting a few minutes, after the rain cleared there was a very brief opportunity present to those shooters on the mound where no wind was present, but within 5 minutes the usual wind started back up and made reading it with the wet flags a little challenging. The stand out shooter of the day was Geoff Willis who picked the conditions and scored a nice Double Possible.
Target Rifle was won this week by Steve Williams who for the most part had figured out the change in conditions to be a couple of shots ahead of Graeme Bright in second.
Sporter was won by James Clarke this week who returned after a couple of weeks away, he only dropped one point on his first scoring shot of the day and went clean on the rest, Second was Dennis Lavelle who dropped a few on the first stage but came home strong in the second only dropping 3 V bulls.
F Standard was a close contest this week in the tricky conditions moving those 155’s about, Phil Mahon took the win over Jeff Eppleston by only 2 Super Centres.
F Open was topped by Geoff Willis who scored an impressive Double Possible to be only single point ahead of Ben Wright who had a flyer in the first stage finding the 5 ring.

What started out looking like a great day for shooting quickly changed, the first shooters had a light breeze with little mirage that soon changed to a strong wind down the range with a looming thunderstorm in the distance. All shooters got their first stages in but the thunderstorm put an end to that, with lightning strikes visible and getting closer the decision was made to stop shooting, not long after this the clouds opened up and that sealed the day with most shooters happy to call it and save the equipment from getting wet.

Saturday 25th January was shot at 500 yards for the First Round of Series 3 for the 2024-2025 season, for a 500yd shoot the temperature was up with some wind to be observed, one can only imagine with the sticky conditions that the mirage had some of the shooters guessing their shots, Congratulations to Dennis Lavelle on scoring the Clubs first Pin Bullseye since upgrading the target electronics, A pin is when there is an impact within 3.9mm of the centre of the target.
Target Rifle was topped by Steve Williams this week only dropping 2 points for the day with Graeme Bright a couple of shots further back.
Sporter had only one shooter this week with Dennis Lavelle.

SSAA 300yd Day No News Yet
Sat 1st March 800yds
Saturday 1st March was shot at 800 yards for the First Round of Series 3 for the 2024-2025 season, todays shoot was a tricky one to pick with quick and sudden wind changes along with a thick mirage keep the shooters on their toes. A few of our Members were away this weekend at the Ungarie 1000yd event, from what I’ve heard I think they would have been happier on the home range with high temps making for a challenging day.
Target Rifle only had 2 shooters this week with Les Fraser ahead of John Coghill
Sporter was topped this week by Dennis Lavelle who was a couple of points ahead of Ben Hawkey.

Sat 8th March 900yds
Saturday 8th March was shot at 900 yards for the 1st Round of Series 3 for the 2024-2025 season, todays shoot was hard with the flags and the wind conditions not always in agreeance, with the added noise and smoke from the Bathurst Burnout Competition which at times lowered visibility on target and made for an interesting days shooting.
Target Rifle was topped this week by Graeme Bright with a tie for Second between Steve Williams and Visiting Target Shooter Rob Logue who beat out Steve on a countback by One V Bull
Sporter was topped this week by returning shooter James Clarke with a new barrel only dropping 2 points for the day With Ben Hawkey only a couple of points back.
F Standard was won by Jeff Eppleston who picked the wind just right to get the shots squeezed off ahead of Jeff Hill.
F Open was won by Geoff Willis who was a little nerveous with Gary Cafe nipping on his heals if it wasn’t for a single dropped point in his last stage Garry would have had the win on a countback.
