Bathurst Rifle Club Inc. 2nd September 2017. Championship & QVM. 600yards. Saturday was the last of this years local competitions and shooters used the 600 yard Championship range for a tune up for upcoming events. The full-bore groups are heading to the NSWRA State Championships and Queens Prize Competition this month and the Black Powder group had their last long range hit out before the Muzzle Loading Association International Committee's World Long Range Championship at the Monarto Shooting Complex in Adelaide starting on the 8th October.

Our World Cup duo returned from Canada with stories of shooting alongside different nationalities and the new experience of Bisley style competition. Shooting alternately relies on the competitor next to you maintaining a steady rhythm but when things go wrong and you can't converse, chaos reigns. A gold medal in the Canadian Nationals and a Silver medal in the World Championship was a great effort against some of the best marksmen/women in the world. Jeff Eppleston and Geoff Willis are to be congratulated for their fine performances.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc. 19th August 2017, W & J Brown Shield. 900yards The Australian contingent at the ICFRA F-Class World Long Range Rifle Championships in Ottawa, Canada excelled, winning both individual and team events. Bathurst Rifle Club members Jeff Eppleston and Geoff Willis have done the Club proud winning a silver medal at only the second time Australia has competed at this event. After leading by eleven points on the first day the Australian team was unable to hold off the more experienced USA team at the long ranges.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc. 12th August 2017, W & J Brown Shield, 800yards Jeff Eppleston and Geoff Willis have tasted some small successes at the Dominion of Canada National F-Class Championships, Eppleston being a member of the Australian team which won a combined F Open/FTR international teams match against six countries. In the individual section of the event leading up to the ICFRA F-Class Long Range World Championships, Willis placed 31st of 174 competitors and after two of the first three stages of the World’s were washed out Eppleston and Willis are in contention with an Eppleston 75.11 possible and Willis 74.5.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc. 5th August 2017, W & J Brown Shield, Championship & QVM, 700yards It’s the season of travel with two of our finest in the Australian F-class team at the ICFRA F-Class World Championships in Canada as three Target Rifle members prepare to travel to Brisbane to compete in the QRA State Championship and Queens Prize competition. Needing a good warm up the weather turned on a fine, cool and windy day which tested all shooters. Gusting from the northwest at 10-20 kph. The early shooters were perhaps caught unawares as this was the windiest day encountered in the past several months. Nick Cock handled it best with a 48.05 but the scores tailed off from there. Graeme Bright (46.1) dropped points regularly but John Coghill (45.01) lost his points in groups of two and three inner fours at a time. Gordon Shepherd (44.02) and Ron Gibson (43.03) sampled the magpie three fare as they became victims of sharp wind gusts.
