Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 7th January 2023, L Williams Cup 600 yards. Saturday saw the final round of the L Williams Cup from 600 yards as the first competition event of the new year with a light south easterly breeze and heavy mirage making good scores harder to achieve than may have been considered prior to starting, with most shooters not scoring well earlier in the afternoon. Graeme Bright lost just one point in his second stage to lead the Target Rifle shooters for the days top spot with John Coghill next ahead of Dennis Lavelle and Ron Gibson. James Clarke managed well scoring consistently in Sporter Class to lead the day on handicap results.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 31st December 2022, L Williams Cup 500 yards. Saturday again provided some excellent weather for the second round of the L Williams Cup from 500 yards with the slight south to south easterly breeze continually stopping or swinging to come from the south west proving just enough to catch out those shooters not watching the mirage closely. Graeme Bright easily accounted for top spot in Target Rifle class with a consistent day’s scoring followed by Dennis Lavelle who improved considerably with his second stage score to stay ahead of John Coghill for the day.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 17th December 2022, L Williams Cup 300 yards. The improved weather of late continues to see good attendances at the Bathurst Rifle Club and Saturdays first round of the L Williams Cup from 300 yards saw several shooters try out long range target shooting for the first time under supervision of experienced club members. The light south easterly breeze rarely settled to allow high scores and only one shooter managed to score to their range handicap on the day. Target Rifle class was won by Graeme Bright with just a countback of the final scores placing Gordon Shepherd in second place. Charlie Bennett was disappointed with his first stage score but improved considerably for his second stage to finish in third place just ahead of John Coghill and Ron Gibson with Dennis Lavelle tailing the field.

Weekly Review 10/12/2022

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 10th December 2022, Captains Trophy 900 yards. A good roll up of shooters on Saturday enjoyed some more warm weather for the second round of the Captains Trophy from 900 yards. The light southerly breeze along with the heavy mirage proved more difficult than most shooters may have thought as it swung from east to westerly and back again with an occasional extra burst of strength from the west. Graeme Bright again top scored in Target Rifle class starting with the best stage score for the day to hold off Gordon Shepherd who tried hard to catch up with his second stage score to be two points away. Ron Gibson improved slightly with his second stage score to finish ahead of John Coghill who struggled with the varied conditions. James Clarke shooting Sporter class managed a big improvement with his second stage score missing a possible by just a few millimetres.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 3rd December 2022, Captains Trophy 800 yards. Saturday presented some very nice weather for shooting the first stage of the Captains Trophy from 800 yards with the majority of shooters achieving scores above their handicap. The light easterly breeze varied throughout as it picked up and dropped to almost nothing during the afternoon then increasing slightly in strength later. Graeme Bright led the Target Rifle shooters for the day by six points ahead of Gordon Shepherd and Ron Gibson with John Coghill finishing a few points away next.
