Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 5th March 2022 C R Kelly Cup 700 yards. The first round of the C R Kelly Cup at 700 yards on Saturday was well attended with a majority of F Class shooters and the relatively calm wind conditions may have given hope of good scores during the afternoon. After shooting got under way most shooters then realised just how tricky the conditions would prove with the breeze changing from south east to westerly throughout the afternoon with a relatively heavy mirage to make sighting difficult for the F Class scope shooters. Graeme Bright may have been a little disappointed in his scoring but he topped the day in Target Rifle Class with a massive ten points margin over Gordon Shepherd and Dennis Lavelle followed closely by John Coghill and then Ron Gibson with a couple of points separating them.

The third and final round of the F A Wilde Trophy was held on Saturday at 600 yards with a mostly light south easterly breeze that varied just enough at times to catch the unwary. Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 12th /19th February 2022 F A Wilde Trophy 300/500 yards. Saturday’s competition for the second stage of the F A Wilde Trophy held at 500 yards followed the previous weeks 300 yards first stage for the F A Wilde Trophy. The East to South Easterly breeze provided variable strength and direction during the afternoon keeping scores mostly below average for the 500 yards range. Target Rifle shooter Steve Williams handled the conditions best leading with the only possible score of the day which included seven centre bulls to finish two points ahead of Graeme Bright who was set a hard task to catch up. Gordon Shepherd claimed six centre bulls but strayed outside the bull’s eye ring too often

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 5th February 2022 Secretary’s Trophy 8-900 yards. The Secretary’s Trophy competition over 800 and 900 yards was completed on Saturday with some welcome cloud cover to keep the worst of the heat away. An unusual predominately south easterly breeze gave some steady patches during the afternoon but also provided drops in strength and changes in direction to catch the unwary at times. Steve Williams clearly led the Target Rifle shooters dropping just one point in each stage during the afternoon to finish six points ahead of Graeme Bright who had a few unusual wide shots with John Coghill just a few centre bulls away next.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 15th January 2022 L Williams Cup 600 yards. The final round of the L Williams Cup was contested on Saturday from 600 yards and with the threat of rain earlier the awnings were erected for comfort and safety which proved to be worthwhile during the afternoon. The north westerly breeze appeared benign early in the afternoon but gained in strength as it fluctuated during the afternoon giving only a few occasions of steadiness. Steve Williams started strong in Target Rifle class not losing a point during his first stage score to take the days honours by one centre bull just holding off a good finish by Graeme Bright in his second stage score with Ron Gibson also scoring well during his second stage to finish two points behind the leaders. Gordon Shepherd and John Coghill then followed a further three points away each as they matched each other’s score until Gordon broke away with three extra centre bulls scored in his second stage while Dennis Lavelle trailed both by just one point on each stage.
