Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 19th December 2020, Captains Trophy 900 yards. Saturday saw the completion of the Captains Trophy from 900 yards during a warm day with the usual north westerly breeze proving difficult for most shooters. The apparent mirage did little to assist in reading the many changes in the spring time breeze. In Target Rifle Class Graeme Bright held the top spot with an improved second stage score to stay one point ahead of Gordon Shepherd who started well early but couldn’t keep the pace in his second stage. John Coghill scored consistently to finish two points further down but a pair of magpie three’s during his second stage spoilt what could have been a great second stage and top score.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 5th December 2020, K Redding Trophy 700 yards. The rainy weather during Saturday eased for just long enough to complete the days shooting of the K Redding Trophy and another round of the Treasurers Trophy at 700 yards. The north to north easterly breeze only occasionally showed a little strength but proved difficult to see the small changes with very little apparent mirage to help read the direction or strength with many shooters experiencing unexplained vertical movement in their grouping of shots.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 21st November 2020, W H Cutler Cup 600 yards. Competition for the final round of the W H Cutler Cup was held Saturday from 600 yards in what turned out to be very difficult shooting conditions at the Bathurst Rifle Range. A sometimes gusty north westerly wind which dropped in strength as it swung from the north occasionally and along with ample mirage gave shooters plenty to think about. Graeme Bright topped the Target Rifle shooters again but scores overall were well below average on the day with Dennis Lavelle and John Coghill next best six points off the leader also scoring two centre bulls each.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 7th November 2020, W Cutler Cup 500 yards. Saturday saw the second round of the W Cutler Cup from 500 yards with a reasonable roll up of shooters also ready to improve their Club Championship scores. The targets were set up in good time and with the wind flags not very active it looked promising for some good scoring but as usually happens the wind was going to be somewhat unpredictable and hard to read. The flags mostly lifted to a westerly breeze sometimes dropping off and swinging to almost lift from the south as the mirage stopped for a short while before coming back from the west.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 31st October 2020, W Cutler Cup 300 yards. Bathurst Rifle Club moved back to 300 yards for the start of the W Cutler Cup competition on Saturday afternoon and with a break in the weather quickly completed the days shooting without interruption. The north-westerly breeze had some moments of steadiness but mostly continually changed strength and direction just enough to catch the unwary with the flags appearing very difficult to read. Steve Williams and Gordon Shepherd battled it out for top honours in Target Rifle with each shooter tightening their group considerably in the second stage but Gordons lack of centre bulls in his first stage left him two centre bulls behind.
