Bathurst Rifle Club 24th & 25th October, 2020. NSWRA Medal Shoot. Bathurst Rifle Club conducted the NSWRA Medal Shoot over 6 ten shot matches during the two days which included 800 yards and 900 yards on Saturday afternoon then on Sunday there was to be an early start with the plan to compete four more stages with two at 500 yards then another two at 600 yards in the afternoon. The rain activity over the weekend was going to make it difficult but most shooters were fortunate to compete on Saturday afternoon without the inconvenience of getting wet until nearing the finish of the 900 yards shoot a storm gave most a bit of a soaking and some opted out of laying down to get drenched for a score.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 19th September 2020, J Wilde Memorial Trophy & K Redding Trophy 900 yards. A mostly overcast Saturday afternoon greeted shooters for the final round of the J Wilde Memorial Trophy & the K Redding Trophy from the 900 yards firing point with a moderate breeze from the south east gusting at times and swinging to a southerly on occasions. It was a day when the seldom used east side tree line flags may have been of some assistance with F Class shooters in particular finding the conditions difficult to read. Graeme Bright gained top spot for the day again after dropping two points during the first stage he then finished the days shooting without loss of another point to finish two points ahead of Steve Williams who dropped two points each stage although claimed eight centre bulls for the day. Gordon Shepherd couldn’t take a trick during his first stage and even with some improvement in his second stage was never going to make up for the lost points earlier.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 12th September 2020, J Wilde Memorial Trophy & K Redding Trophy 800 yards. Another great spring day on Saturday afternoon greeted shooters for the second round of the J Wilde Memorial Trophy & the first round of the K Redding Trophy from the 800 yards firing point. A fickle breeze that varied throughout the afternoon picking up a bit from the west then dropping off often to almost nothing as it swung around randomly with less strength from the south west to the south before swinging back to start the cycle from the west again. It was a good day to be watching for subtle changes in the plentiful mirage.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 5th September 2020, J Wilde Memorial Trophy 700 yards. Saturday gave us another great spring day to be outside enjoying the sunshine for the start of the J Wilde Memorial Trophy. The fluctuating strength of the predominately south westerly breeze along with the frequent changes in direction made for a difficult day with the challenging 700 yards target. Steve Williams led the Target Rifle shooters holding slightly tighter groups and scoring the best individual stage to start the day finishing two points ahead of Graeme Bright who was just off his usual best. Ron Gibson had a slow start with his first stage but made up some ground with a better result in the second stage to finish four points further down and three points ahead of Gordon Shepherd who was shooting way below his average.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 29th August 2020, Gilmour Cup 600 yards. Saturday saw the final round of the Gilmour Cup at 600 yards in warm winter sunshine with just a light westerly breeze that picked up and eased during the afternoon just enough to keep shooters watching the mirage movement carefully at times trying to beat the changes. In the Target Rifle class Graeme Bright and Steve Williams had a close contest with Graeme just gaining top spot for the day on a second stage countback with Gordon Shepherd staying with them both until dropping an extra point with his last shot.
