Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 26th June 2021, Diggers & G James Cups 600 Yards.
The third round of the Diggers & G James Cups was contested on Saturday at 600 yards with a strong and mostly steady westerly breeze that occasionally swung from the south west to give some degree of difficulty at times.
Several Target Rifle shooters managed a possible for one of their stages but Steve Williams was the only one to gain a double for the day including thirteen centre bulls followed by Graeme Bright and Gordon Shepherd both finishing two points behind with Graeme having a one centre bull advantage. Charlie Bennett continues to improve with practice and held the rifle well scoring his best stage to date for his first stage score with John Coghill holding reasonably well for most of his first stage but could not regain that during his second.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 19th June 2021, Diggers & G James Cups 500 Yards.
The second round of the Diggers & G James Cups was contested on Saturday which is also the first round of the 2022 Club Championships. A mild southerly breeze that continually changed from slightly east to west kept most shooters scores for the easier 500 yards range below their handicap.
With our current Target Rifle Club Champion Graeme Bright away at the National Championships in Brisbane, Steve Williams had no problem top scoring for the day with an excellent score in the conditions losing just one point on the day. Gordon Shepherd finished a few points further away after a slow start to his second stage with John Coghill not improving until later in the afternoon during the Secretary’s Trophy shoot. Charlie Bennett is slowly having his equipment customised to suit and would have done better if not for a slight error and lesson learned during his first stage.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 12th June 2021, Diggers & G James Cups 300 Yards.
Saturday saw the start of the Diggers & G James Cups at 300 yards with some great weather and the usual west to north westerly breeze occasionally catching those not watching carefully as it changed in direction. Almost half the shooters were able to shoot to their handicap or better.
Gordon Shepherd led the way in Target Rifle class holding the rifle well to lose just one point in each stage finishing one point clear of Steve Williams for the day. Charlie Bennett continues to work on mastering the art of target rifle shooting as he learns more each week.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 5th June 2021, Practice 500 Yards.
Saturday saw the start of the 2021-2022 shooting year for Bathurst Rifle Club with a 500 yards practice day. The club has only a few practice days each year now due to the restricted use of our facilities and ten shooters including a visitor came along to enjoy the great weather to test equipment.
Target Rifle shooter Steve Williams wasted no time in taking advantage of the conditions scoring a double possible for the day including fifteen centre bulls to narrowly lead Graeme Bright by one point after Graeme dropped one during his second stage. Gordon Shepherd started the day slowly losing a couple of points during his first stage but even a possible for his second stage left him two points off the lead. John Coghill had a steady result for the day although it may not have been quite as good as he manages at times and Charlie Bennett continues to work on his skills with the target rifle and sling shooting.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 29th May 2021, W & J Brown Consolation Trophy 600 Yards.
Saturday 29th May saw the final shoot on the club 2021 shooting program with competition for the W & J Brown Consolation Trophy at 600 yards. The variable south westerly breeze gave little opportunity to get a string of shots away in the same condition with most shooters appearing to have difficulty.
Graeme Bright did best of the Target Rifle shooters again top scoring for the day with three points advantage over Gordon Shepherd with John Coghill one point further down and Ron Gibson tailing the field. All shooters started with their best stage for the day but John Coghill surprised all scoring a possible that included five centre bulls setting a benchmark for the day.
