Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 14th December 2019. 500yds. Diggers & G James Cups. The fifth round of the Diggers & G James Cups was contested last Saturday in warm sunny weather with a moderately strong west to south westerly breeze that continually and often abruptly changed direction and strength during the afternoon to make a very difficult task of scoring well. Shooting in Target Rifle Class Graeme Bright again scored well during the difficult conditions of the afternoon dropping only two points during each stage for the day and scoring five centre bulls while Hayden Booth lost another eight points as he continues to develop his skills with the rifle.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 7th December 2019. 300yds. Diggers & G James Cups. The relentless strong winds of late eased a little last Saturday for the fourth stage of the Diggers & G James Cups again contested at 300 yards. Although not as strong as has been lately the west to south westerly proved difficult for most shooters with a few exceptions. In TR class Graeme Bright again top scored for the day as he kept all shots within the margins of the bulls eye ring only losing a couple of slightly higher shots later in his second stage. Finishing nine points away next up was Gordon Shepherd who accounted for new shooter Hayden Booth by merely two centre bulls for the day.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc., 9th November 2019. 300yds. Diggers & G James Cups. The next six weeks sees the Diggers & G James Cups contested over 2x300, 2x500 & 2x600 yards. After our successful Open prize Meeting two weeks ago the Bathurst Rifle Club got back to business again with the start of our Club Trophy Competition season last Saturday at the 300 yard firing point. With the continuing strong winds that have prevailed over the last several days or more Saturday was not going to be easy, even from the shortest distance we shoot. The strong west to south westerly continually changed throughout the afternoon occasionally attempting a swing to come from the south east making it a difficult task to pick your way through looking for similar conditions each shot.

Bathurst Rifle Club Annual OPM 2019

Posted in Weekly Roundup on Oct 28, 2019

Bathurst Rifle Club Sunday 27th October 2019. BRC Annual Open Prize Meeting. Sunday saw the Bathurst Rifle Club OPM with 45 shooters from across the state attending for what was again another testing day at the Bathurst Full Bore Rifle Range. Saturday was an extremely windy day during which time club members made the range ready for the visitors and contended with setting up the electronic target systems in preparation for Sundays shooting, fortunately a better day was forecast for Sunday. People arriving at the range on Sunday were greeted with perfect conditions to enjoy the day’s events although the wind and mirage made for challenging conditions with the predominately west to south westerly breeze continually swinging and dropping off. Early in the day it also occasionally swung to show the mirage drifting from the east briefly before the flags were up again from the west and the mirage again showed a run from the west. Many were caught out dropping points to these rapid changes but as often happens someone can capitalize on a prevailing condition.
