Bathurst Rifle Club Inc 18th April 2015 L Williams Cup, 300yards With most of the A grade target rifle group away at the Victorian Queens Prize shoot in Bendigo the attention focused on the scoped competitors battling for the coveted F-class Championship Cup. Unfortunately errors, omissions, and forgetfulness put a dent in the chances of the Willis brothers both turning up totally unprepared to contest the championship round. Grahame Willis brought only 10 reloaded rounds and had to use factory ammunition for his first stage, whilst Geoff shot target rifle “for fun” in his first stage and then switched to his scoped rifle for his second dig.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc 11th April 2015 Captains Trophy, 900yards Outside competitions, illness and injury decimated the field for the second last 900 yard range of the Club Championship and with the Victorian Queens Prize (VRA) meeting scheduled for next weekend attendance at the local range will again suffer. The Club Championship is in turmoil as several of the top contenders have yet to qualify. Their non attendances due to a preference for outside competitions and some low scores due to difficult conditions earlier in the year have left many competitors with a lot of ground to make up with just one shoot at each of the four ranges to complete the Championship.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc 28th March 2015 Captains Trophy, 800yards The old saying that every dog has his day proved correct even for the old dogs as a small contingent of rifle shooters contested the first stage of the Captains Trophy over 800 yards on Saturday. With a number of members again on the road contesting Open competitions around the state a bare quorum of shooters attended the Bathurst range. The weather conditions were reasonably good for a change, although early shooters had to contend with a light swirling breeze which flicked from side to side. Choosing to mark first proved a good choice as John Coghill missed the worst of the fickle breezes and when his time came to shoot the conditions had moderated somewhat.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc 21st March 2015 K Redding Trophy 700yards The run of difficult and testing conditions which has plagued this year's Championship continued with a vengeance. Shooters were unable to get any respite from the buffeting on the mound and the continual changes in strength and direction of the wind. Easterlies are usually mild and filter through the trees on the eastern side of the range but Saturday produced a monster of a breeze. Steve Williams was the only contestant to show any semblance of control in the first stage with a 47.02 and even then his group was rather large. Geoff Willis with his 55.2 in F-class Standard was the best of the rest as the whole contingent succumbed to the ferocity of the wind. Gordon Shepherd and Nick Cock stayed in touch with Williams with 45 apiece, but the "effeys" were not within cooee of Willis.

Bathurst Rifle Club Inc 14th March 2015 W Cutler Cup, 600yards With most of the Club members absent at the two day Lyndhurst Annual Open prize meeting the local competition was a real letdown. Only four competitors attended the 600 yard championship shoot and the results were a mite disappointing. The weather was mild and the breeze from the south west appeared to have little devil in its strength and direction. However, looks were deceiving as the scores demonstrated. Seemingly good stages suddenly disintegrated as gusts of wind blew shots into the magpie zone and in some cases almost off the target.
